Walston Wells & Birchall, LLP has a simple recruiting mission. We want to be the firm of choice among the most promising future lawyers desiring to practice in the Southeast. Our law firm focuses on attracting law students who not only distinguish themselves academically, but who also display a sense of leadership, indicating their potential to be future leaders in their respective fields of legal practice.

We recruit nationally, searching for students who will contribute to the firm's reputation of excellence. Walston Wells regularly conducts on-campus interviews at law schools throughout the Southeast, including Virginia, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Alabama and Cumberland. We also welcome resumes from other law schools across the country. We actively recruit both first-year and second-year law students for our Summer Associate Program.

In selecting candidates for summer and permanent positions, we are interested in outstanding academic achievement and diverse extracurricular accomplishments and interests. We look for students who, in addition to performing at an exceptional level inside the classroom, demonstrate an ability to assume responsibility and are eager to accept professional challenges. Our hiring philosophy recognizes that the ability to gain and maintain the confidence of clients and command the respect of peers and adversaries alike distinguishes a truly exceptional lawyer.
